Welcome to the XII SEGED!
With great enthusiasm, we invite everyone to participate in the XII Symposium on Ecology, Genetics, and Evolution of Drosophila, which will take place from September 2nd to 5th, 2024, in São Paulo, SP. SEGED is a national event that brings together researchers and students who use Drosophila as a study model. With both national and international speakers and participants, it's a great opportunity to meet other drosophilists, showcase your research, and establish and consolidate collaborations.
After a 5-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held at the São Paulo campus of the University of São Paulo (USP). Under direct influence of the Russian-American geneticist Theodosius Dobzhansky, USP was the birthplace of Drosophila studies in Brazil, which has since diversified and now includes various research groups spread across all regions.
Known as the largest city in the country, São Paulo is a prominent economic and cultural center in Latin America. Despite its constant hustle and bustle, the city also offers spaces for rest and leisure, with a variety of parks, museums, theaters, and cultural centers, which can provide participants with unique moments of interaction in this edition that is marking the event's comeback.
We look forward to seeing everyone!
